Oh my, indeed. The summer sun has left my skin a bit "unpretty". Actually years of exercising outside at high noon has totally fucked up my skin. That and the fact that I was well into my 30’s before sunscreen became a regular part of my beauty arsenal. So I really need to start reelin in the years and turn back the clock to a smoother, more refreshing time which for me would be the early 80’s. But scrapin off those years ain’t cheap. So I signed up for a heads up of Spa Specials during Spa Week. It’s a bi-annual event that offers greatly reduced prices on every kind of treatment imaginable.
My birthday in April coincided with spa week and I was treated to a facial, mani, pedi and Microdermbrasion for about half off regular prices. First off, I haven’t’ had a facial in years and didn’t exactly know what microdermbrasion entailed. The esthetician started with a cleanser, then a steam treatment which prepped me for extraction; painful picking squeezing of every pore and visible surface on my face to clean out the gunk and leave it free of debris. Then
microdermabrasion, a mini sandblaster machine that took off the top layers or dermis. OUCH!! But the results were pretty great. Evened out my skin tone and left my face smooth and glowing. So I was inspired to actually do some skin maintenance and repair so on the Spa website I signed up for
"Steals and Deals" and they send a monthly email of spa specials in my area, with each service or package deeply discounted. So far I’ve subjected myself to another round of sandblasting and next time I’m gonna try LED Laser resurfacing...but I’m drawing the line at anything that involves leeches or injecting frog poison into my forehead.
