I like a good nature/road movie and since I didn’t get around (was too lazy) to read Krakauer’s book I Netflixed the DVD instead. First off, didn’t realize it was a 2 ½ hr. epic so hadn’t secured extra snacks and beer. My Bad. Anyway… the movie pulled me in as it unfolded and showed a life unraveling. Directed by Sean Penn it’s based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who upon graduating from Emory University in 1992, the honor student and athlete gives up his possessions, rebels against his "evil" parents and hitchhikes to Alaska. He dreams of living in the Alaskan wilderness, at one with nature….in an abandoned bus …..in the winter. Can you say idiot?
